A secluded peaceful
cottage that is ideal for families and is close to the Northern coast of
Brittany

The cottage is called
“le tort”, the closest villages, are Caulnes, 5 minutes by car, St
Meen le Grand, 10 minutes and Dinan is 15 minute drive.
The
property is set within its own grounds with the River Rance winding around
the fields to the rear.
There
are two double bedrooms, one with twin beds, the main with a double bed,
the third bedroom is very small and suitable for a child.

CAULNES
Has all amenities such as Supermarkets,
Pharmacy, Banks, Petrol Stations etc. (5 mins by car).
ST MEEN le GRAND
Again has all amenities but there are several nice little bars, cafes and
restaurants here, all set around a flower lined square by the name of
General Pattern Square as he liberated the village in the war. The
Town Hall is also quite ornate and is illuminated in the evening).
(10 mins by car).
DINAN
Is very touristy and a must, it is a medieval town set by the River
Rance, the arches of the famous bridge are illuminated at night and there
are some wonderful restaurants by the river, it is possible to have boat
trips from here. The shops, bars and cafes are to be found amongst
the cobbled alleyways. (15 mins by car).
LE
MONT ST MICHEL Is a 1 hour drive from the house, it is well worth a
visit, on the way is a village by the name of Dol Bretagne, drive up to
the mound is a spectacular picnic site, St Malo and Cancale are also not
far from here.
ST
MALO You may need more than one
day here, there is so much to see and do, further along the coast here are
gorgeous beaches, in St Malo itself there is a perfect beach for the kids
as there is a sea water pool that the kids dive in, the shops are also
really nice. St Malo is set in a walled fortress. There is a lovely
aquarium. Lots to do, something for everyone. The drive along the coast
road to Cancale which is famous for oysters, is very pretty.
DINARD
Close to St Malo, a quaint old fashioned type of seaside resort, with
typically Breton striped beach huts. Again there is a seawater pool
on the beach which the kids dive into.
ST
CASTE Has a beautiful beach, perfect for kids, Plancoet on the
way back from here is a nice stop off point as there are a couple of
really nice restaurants.
JOSSELIN
Is inland around a 30 minute drive, (in the direction of ST Meen) there is
a wonderful Chateau and picturesque river.
BICNIC
AND LES ROSIERS Are both lovely seaside resorts, about an hours drive
along the N12 in opposite direction to Rennes.
RENNES
Is about 20 minutes away along N12, we have not really explored yet,
so I would advise to get some information of the internet, there is a
really good Hypermarket and shopping Mall on the way, we have always got
this far and never had time to go any further!
There are two
Children’s parks situated around the proximity of Combourg, one has a
small Zoo and rides and water slides etc, both are reasonably priced.
There are usually leaflets in the house or in local bars etc.
VANNES
Is at the bottom end of the coast and a good two hour drive, the beaches
are lovely and if you fancy a drive it is worth it, although there are
beaches just as nice and a lot closer.
There
are some war graves and war sight seeing things about a 2 hour drive away
into Normandy, St Mere Eglise still has a replica of the parachutist that
got caught on the church and is featured in the film the longest night,
the beach which featured in saving Private Ryan is called Omaha Beach,
with Point du Hoc and an American cemetery that will leave you very moved
it is definitely worth a visit – again if you fancy a drive out.
